How To Travel Around Pattaya
There are many ways to take a tour around Pattaya that are both convenient and comfortable:
1.Song-Thaew or Baht Bus: The most often seen public transport in Pattaya is the Song-Thaew, popularly known as the "baht bus." These are one-ton coverted pick-up trucks with bench seating. The fare ranges from 10 to 30 Baht per person, depending on distance. Asking and dealing with the driver about the fare are recommended prior to boarding. The price becomes negotiable when you hire the bus to go to a specific destination. If you simply flag down a baht bus and board it, without speaking to the driver, and then exit at a point along his normal route, the fare is 10 baht.
2. Motorcycle self drive hire: Motorcycles hire will cost you about 150 to 700 Baht a day, depending on size and condition. Riding skill and experience are a "must" for getting around Pattaya as some of the roads are in poor condition. Don't even think about fast riding. There are too many pot holes, sharp turns, and uneven road surfaces, not to mention the danger to pedestrians. Wearing a helmet is required by Thai law and failure to do so will result in a 300-500 baht fine. It is recommended that you carefully read the rental contract. Often, the renter is responsible for damage or theft. Make sure you rent from a reputable agency and that full insurance coverage is provided.
3.Long tail boats and speed boats: Long-tail Boats and speed boats are usually provided by travel agencies. Reservations can be made at your hotel or local tour agencies.
4. Pattaya Beach Bus : There are 3 lines of Pattaya Beach Bus; the Red Line, Green Line and Yellow Line which will be available later. The buses start at 07.00 and finish at midnight. The fare is 20 Baht per person.
